Here's where you can find some information about the Summer 2011 session of the Golden Gate Audubon sponsored "Peeps to Phalaropes: The Shorebirds of California" class This class is suitable for all levels of bird enthusiasts Saturday, August 27, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., local walks and presentation; Sunday, August 28, 2 – 5 p.m., field trip By late August, hundreds of thousands of “wind birds” have winged their way from their northern breeding grounds to San Francisco Bay, one of the largest peep food suppliers in North America. In this new class, we will focus on the identification, amazing evolutionary adaptations, and life histories of the 30-plus shorebird species that reside here, pass through in migration, or overwinter in California. On Sunday’s field trip, we’ll have more opportunities to view and focus on this order while not ignoring the myriad of other birds along the shoreline. Saturday’s class is cosponsored by Literacy for Environmental Justice. Fee: $50. REGISTRATION: CALL 510-843-2222 or go to: www.goldengateaudubon.org/education/classes Note: Please plan to carpool for the field trips, especially for the Sunday trip The Saturday presentation with interspersed field trips will be held at The EcoCenter at Heron's Head Park in San Francisco.
